Cam’ron is an American rapper whos been quite successful on his solo career but he’s also popular for being in the East Coast hip-hop group “The Diplomats” and the duo “U.N”.
His rise to fame was due to his pop-rap technique and street smart rhymes. He has a cult following and also being followed by mainstream media lovers due to his style.
His rise to stardom was through his third studio album “Come With Me” in which some of its songs managed to make to the Billboard charts. Cam’ron has also been nominated with a grammy along with his partners in The Diplomats.
The rapper has been able to achieve multiple achievements with his rap career and has also been featured in a few films which helped him accumulate a large sum of wealth.

Cam’ron, also known as Cameron Ezike Giles was born in New York City on February 4, 1976.
His single mother, Fredericka Giles, solely raised him as his father wasn’t around during his childhood. He then went to the Manhattan Center of Science and Mathematics but was eventually kicked out from school due to his poor grades.
Though Cam’ron was a promising basketball player, he wasn’t able to use it as an advantage due to how low his grades were.
He did try to attend college at Navarro Junior College in Texas but immediately dropped and went back to his hometown in Harlem we sold drugs while getting involved in the music scene at the same time.
Cam’ron was then able to meet certain influential people in the rap industry which is how he was able to start his career in rap.
Career as a Rapper
His introduction to becoming one of the most popular rappers started with his small rap group back in Harlem named “Children of the Corn”.
This group was sadly short-lived due to the sudden passing of their partner making them unable to continue to perform.
Cam’ron was then introduced to The Notorious B.I.G. as he was impressed by his songs. He was then offered to sign a deal by one of Biggie’s partners, Lance Rivera, in his label Untertainment.
He was then able to release his first album in 1998 called “Confessions of Fire”. It managed to get certified gold by the RIAA. His second album S.D.E then followed after where it had collaborations with various artists like Destiny’s Child and Juelz Santana.
By 2001, the hip-hop group that he founded called “The Diplomats” was able to sign a contract with Roc-A-Fella Studios.
They were then able to release a debut album by 2003 named “Diplomatic Immunity” and proceeded with another album the following year called “Diplomatic Immunity 2” which were able to get moderate success and both received a gold certification.
In 2005, Cam’ron felt that his last album wasn’t properly promoted which prompted him to leave his record label and went to sign in with Warner music group.
He then founded his own record label “Dipset west” back in 2009 which he followed up by forming another rap group “Dipset West”.
Cam’ron’s Other Career Ventures
Aside from having a successful rap career, Cam’ron also tried to venture out into becoming an actor. He was able to get featured in one of Damon Dash’s produced film “Paid in Full” as one of the three main characters.
The rapper also made a movie titled “Killa Season” for one of his albums in 2006, where Cam’ron was able to show his writing and acting capabilities.
He’s also ventured out into fashion designing in 2014, where he and fashion designer Mark McNairy had a fashion line called “Cape Line” for the New York Fashion Week.

With Cam’ron’s huge successes over the years with his career as a rapper, he has managed to get nominated twice for a Grammy award along with Juelz Santanaback in 2002 and 2003.
Both of the awards were “Best Performance for a Duo Group” for the songs “Oh Boy” and “Dipset”.

Feuds with Other Celebrities
The rapper also had a few squabbles with other artists. He had a fight with Jay-Z as he claimed that the emcee stole a few lyrics from other rappers like The Notorious B.I.G. This beef didn’t last long as it was able to die down after a few diss tracks were made.
Also, in 2007, he had an argument with 50 Cent as both rappers called each other’s record labels out and ridiculed them which resulted in the two creating diss tracks against each other for a while.
This feud lasted for a few years but managed to slowly die down until both of them managed to reconcile by 2016.
Cam’ron took a three-year hiatus after the release of his fifth studio album “Killa Season”. This was due to him assisting his mother whose health was suffering from a stroke.
He took his mother to Florida in order to undergo therapy and get rehabilitated. She managed to recover but still had her left side mostly paralyzed.
He also had a long term relationship in 2002, with Juliet “Juju C. where they spent more than a decade with each other. Eventually, the couple split during 2017 as Cam’ron was allegedly seeing someone else while they were still dating.
The rapper also had a near-death experience when he was pointed with a gun at an intersection in New York.
He was told to “give-up” his Lamborghini but Cam’ron resisted and eventually got shot and drove away until a nearby fan managed to help take him to a hospital.
However, the suspects left some pieces of evidence in the crime scene, the police were unable to identify who the assailants were.
