He’s also been a notable figure of controversy as of late due to his wild claims and various hate speech that he has managed to produce through the internet with his online show “Info Wars”.
Although a lot of people have been against Alex, he was still able to have a wide following throughout his different radio and television platforms to talk about his beliefs. This allowed him to gain a huge amount of wealth and fame which managed to help his success.
So who is Alex Jones and what makes him so popular? Well just continue reading as well talk all about him, his career, and net worth.
Childhood Life and Upbringing
Alex Emric Jones was born in 1974 in Dallas, Texas. His father was a dentist while his mother was a stay-at-home housewife. He then studied in Anderson Highschool and joined his local high school football team as a lineman.
During his teenage years, Alex read Gary Allen’s “None Dare Call It Conspiracy” book which influenced him to become enthralled conservative journalism and to believe in conspiracy theories.
He then proceeded to attend Austin Community College but eventually dropped out in order to work as a radio host.
His career all started with him doing a cable program for a while and then proceeded to work in KFJM radio station where he hosted the show “The Final Edition”.
During his time on the show, he usually discussed on how the government was responsible for the Oklahoma Bombings as a way to cause mass hysteria throughout America.
Jones then slowly gained a cult following throughout his time in the show as his topics were becoming more and more controversial. He was eventually fired in 1999 due to the station losing more advertisers as Alex would not allow to widen the topics on his show.
The Alex Jones Show
Alex then proceeded in creating his own radio show “The Alex Jones Show” which was available at 90 AM and FM stations. The show mainly consists of Alex continuing to promote his conspiracy theories which manage to increase his popularity on a wider scale.
After the events that have unfolded in the September 11 terrorist attacks, he then promoted that the government was the one who orchestrated the events.
By 2012 he then said in his radio show that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings were also the government’s creation and that the survivors of the event were actually “Crisis Actors”
During the presidential campaign, he also said through his broadcast that a certain New York Pizza Parlor was actually an underground child sex ring and that the government is responsible for creating tornadoes.
Gaining Internet Popularity with Info Wars
As Alex’s popularity continued to rise, he then went to the internet and created InfoWars, which was a website that further promotes his conspiracy theories.
The website is able to gain a monthly visit of 10 million people which makes it more popular than other legitimate news websites.
InfoWars has also been shown to give out a lot of fake news and spread misinformation which eventually leads Facebook and other social media platforms to completely ban him due to it violating their policies against harassment and hate speech.
Political Views and Beliefs
Due to all the conspiracy and political issues that Alex has had during his career, he is seen to be a conservative far-right and alt-right. He is an avid supporter of Donald Trump and was actively helping him during his campaign back in 2016.
Jones has a lot of unconventional beliefs as he has been quite supportive of a lot of conspiracy theories.
He believes that the government is able to control the weather as most of the hurricanes like hurricane Irma was geo-engineered by them. His views regarding vaccines are also different as he believes that vaccines are the government’s plan to create more autistic people.
Alex also thinks that climate change is made by the world bank in order to control the economy through a carbon tax.
Alex Jones’ Consumer Products
Aside from all the radio broadcasting shows that Alex does with his life, he also sells different types of products through his site InfoWars.
These products include toothpaste, bulletproof vests, and dietary supplements. The people that he sells his products to are the ones who believe that armageddon is near.
The dietary supplements are what Jones calls “Brain Pills” in order to protect those who’ve used them for the said impending apocalypse.
There have been a few tests that were done to check if the dietary supplements were deemed safe.
The tests have shown that they were completely harmless but due to them being of a lower dosage compared to a normal dietary supplement, they seem to be ineffective and useless.
Alex Jones’ Net Worth
With all the popularity and products that Alex Jones has made throughout his entire career, he has managed to gain a total net worth of $10 million dollars which also includes all of his radio and internet broadcasts.
This net worth is expected to go lower due to his Infowars receiving multiple legal actions from its content promoting false news and hate speech.
Personal Life and Marriage
Alex and his wife, Kelly Jones, filed for divorce back in 2015 where Kelly wanted sole custody with their three children due to Alex’s behavior from his broadcast shows.
This was due to him making controversial behaviors to the point where he started threatening members of congress.
Though Jones’ attorney claimed that this was all just an act as he was just “playing a character”, he committedly told everyone that he, is in fact, true to himself during all the times they’re filming and true to his known beliefs.
His wife managed to win the rights for custody while Alex was able to have visitation rights.
